Hello Ryan,
Is this project still active? I have been using virtualmin for years. This project sounds very interesting. I'd like to know a bit more of where you are along with it and if you are looking for help. I have quite a bit of experience with Webmin/Virtualmin and Wordpress from a development standpoint not just a end user. Anyhow feel free to reach out sometime so we can chat a bit.

Hi there,

Sorry for the super delayed response... I didn't notice your post until now. I'm not sure why I don't get notifications on here but since people rarely post here I rarely come check the forums.

I do occasionally still work on Frontmin but recently I've put development on pause until I get more funding and more time to work on it. Unfortunately I don't have my own dedicated server or VPS anymore and don't run Virtualmin for myself right now. I've setup a Virtualbox to work on it instead. I definitely do still plan to finish it, I've just been busy with a few other projects at the moment.

The last time I was working on it I had managed to create/update the build system using Phing to automate the build process. It also uses composer to download dependencies such as WooCommerce and WordPress, etc. I had actually done a transaction through WooCommerce that successfully created a virtual server in Virtualmin so that was exciting. There was still a large amount of things left to finish though and a lot of stuff to tidy up. It isn't really usable yet because the code would have to be cleaned up and secured and whatnot still. I haven't released code publicly yet because I don't want people to start to try and use it if it's not tested and secure. I think that could be very bad. It will be released under the MIT license when it is released.

I wasn't planning to get anyone else to help with coding it at the moment because, to be completely transparent about it, I was planning to create some premium plugins for it of some sort afterwards in order to sell them and perhaps make a little money to pay for things and haven't really planned that all out yet. They wouldn't be things required for a lot of people who wanted basic functionality of a web host. One plugin I've made so far was a domain search and registration tool but I think I'm going to include that plugin free with Frontmin because it seems almost necessary for a web host to have such a thing. Then it could serve as an example so other people could make their own plugins too. But something like that anyway.

I really love Virtualmin but I've switched my websites to a shared host for now to save some time and money. That was kind of a sad decision to make but something I had to do for the time being. I do fully intend to keep working on Frontmin and release it. I've just put development on pause for the time being until I get more funding and more time to work on it, probably after I finish at least one of my other huge projects which I've actually been working on longer than this. It will also help me in the development of Frontmin since it will also use WordPress with WooCommerce. But I do definitely plan to finish Frontmin and will never abandon it.

Ryan
